So we got to New Zealand.....
and ending up buying a more expensive house, and lots of other things, so the scooter idea got put on the back burner for a while......
2 and a bit years later a new scooter shop opened just down the road, I popped in for a look, and started thinking about 2 wheels again.
Where we live is quite hilly, and some of the roads are quite fast so a 50cc wasnt going to be that practical. Mary and I sat our learner Motorcycle license and began shopping for 100cc+ bikes. We narrowed it down to the Suzuki AN125 and the Piaggio Fly 150. Mary test rode both, I rode the Piaggio, and we made our decision...........we went Italian (sort of).
These photos were taken with my phone the day we picked up a pair of Piaggio Fly 150s. Apologies for the poor quaility, I think the lens was smudged.
Marys is Blue, mine is White.
In the Beginning
So I used to ride a scooter.........back when I lived in England. It was by far and away the best thing for getting around a crowded conjested city.
I bought mine secondhand from a Honda dealer in Cambridge just after my work indicated that they wanted me to go and work in London. Having lived in London once before there was no way that I was going back to riding the Tube. So I bought a 1996 50cc Honda SFX scooter hoping that it would make life easier. It was my first ever scooter, and it was fantastic. I loved riding it, zipping about London faster than any other form of transport, parking for free.......great.
When I moved to Manchester I took it with me, again it was the perfect way to get around town.
I ended up with a company car so wasnt riding it that much, so my partner Mary began using it to commute to work. She loved it too.
When we decided to move to New Zealand we considered taking it with us, but it wasnt economical, better to buy one (or two) when we got there. It was a bit beat up, scratched, a broken piece on the nose, but it was our first scooter, and we loved it. I think I have some photos somewhere, if I can find them I will post them here.
